How do I place a hold?
Remember because we automatically renew items on loan, you will need to place a hold on something you want if it is on loan to someone else.
You can place a hold on (reserve) resources that are already on loan, via the Library Catalogue:
- Log in to the Library Catalogue with your Username and Password
- click on Place Hold and select the Library you wish to collect your hold from. You can also have it sent to you via Pay-to-Post
- students and staff can't place holds on Short Loans and only staff can place holds on restricted audio-visual items
- you can check your place in the holds queue via Self Service on the Library Catalogue
You can have up to 5 holds at a time. Students registered with Disability Advice can place 10 holds at a time.
How do I collect my hold?
We'll email your University email when your hold is ready to collect.
You can also check your Library account.
Holds are held for 6 days from the date of your email.
Collect your hold from the High Demand Area on the ground floor - you need your Campus Card and PIN.
Posters telling you how to find your holds are on display in the High Demand Area but please ask Library staff if you need any help.
During the refurbishment of Sheila Silver Library in summer 2018 holds can be collected from outside G28 near the Campus Card Kiosks.
