Welcome to the Leeds Beckett Library web pages for part-time students.
These pages highlight some of the information and services which will support you in your studies.
If you are studying on a distance learning course please also take a look at our pages to support distance learners.
If it's a while since you last did some studying you'll find our Skills for Learning website very helpful, including podcasts on subjects such as time management and student confidence. You will need your standard Username and Password if you are accessing Skills for Learning resources off-campus.
Please also take time to browse around our full website and do Contact Us if you need any help.
The Library has over 325,000 print resources and over 140,000 electronic, available on and off-campus.
Our search tool, Discover, lets you find these quickly and easily.
Each course has its own Academic Librarian who can help you with developing your information seeking skills. They also maintain online guides to the resources in the subjects taught at our University.
Undergraduates can borrow 15 items and taught postgraduates 17 items at a time. You can borrow resources from across our collections, not just those for your course.
The Library will automatically renew your loans* for you for up to six months unless they are requested by someone else. If you want to borrow something that is already on loan you will need to put a hold on it. You can put a hold on something at one campus and collect it from another. Or you can use our Pay-to-Post service to have books sent to you at home.
We will email your University email account if your items have been requested by someone else so please remember to check it regularly.
We'll only fine if you don't return on time. Fines are £2 per day.
(*except Short Loans, Laptop Loans and Interlibrary Loans)
Both our Libraries at City Campus (Sheila Silver Library) and Headingley are open 24/7, 365 so you can study when it suits you best. You need your Campus Card to access Sheila Silver Library at all times. At Headingley Library you will need it 19:00-08:30.
You can bring your own laptop into the Libraries and access the internet via our wireless network.
