Welcome to the Leeds Beckett Library web pages for University staff with information about how we can support you in your role at the University.
Each School has a team of Academic Librarians who are your main contacts within Library Services. They also create subject guides which highlight the key resources for each subject. Please email them for advice on any of the topics below.
The Academic Support Team provides academic skills teaching sessions within modules and can work with you to tailor these to the learning outcomes and particular priorities of your course. The University's TeachLearn pages provide guidance on how you can book in-curriculum sessions for your students. These pages also list the MyBeckett skills modules you can direct students to, to help them with key skills, Academic Integrity or English for academic studies.
We also provide support directly to students through bookable workshops, the Skills for Learning website and one-to-one appointments. Students can also email their Academic Librarian team directly for advice on finding and using Library resources.
The Library supports students in their use of IT with web pages offering guidance on passwords, MyBeckett, Office 365, MFA, email, etc. and a 24/7 Library and Student IT Advice Service. We also offer dedicated support for distance learning students and students with disabilities which includes an Alternative Formats Service.
You can request books, eBooks and other Library resources for your teaching by updating your reading list. Learn how to use the Reading List System here. You can also obtain copyright advice and have material digitised for your modules from the University’s Copyright and Digitisation Service.
Digital Learning within Library Services supports the University’s VLE MyBeckett as well as other learning systems such as Turnitin, PebblePad and MS Teams. They provide training and guides and can also offer bespoke sessions for course teams / groups of staff.
Your staff card is also your Library card. You can borrow 30 resources and these are issued for 52 weeks, but you will be asked to return an item if another user places a reservation on it. Please see our Borrowing pages for more information. We offer a Click & Collect service for reservations.
