The Library: Focus groups on online reading lists

Calling all Leeds Beckett students-join us for a focus group, share your opinions and earn a £10 Amazon voucher.

What is the purpose of this study?

The project, which is being run by members of the Library Academic Support Team and the Learning Resources Team, aims to explore the student experience of using the Talis Aspire Online Reading Lists system at Leeds Beckett University. We aim to gain a better understanding of these students’ experiences and points of view, focusing on the aspects of content, structure and usability, so that we can develop both student and staff engagement with Reading Lists 

Where will the focus groups take place?

The focus groups will be in-person, in the Library at City or Headingley campuses. They will last between 40-60 minutes and have a maximum of 8 students in each session.

What will I have to do?

There will be a few activities, such as writing on post-it notes, but the main aim of the session is to have a discussion based on your thoughts and experiences of using online reading lists. All dates and locations are shown in the table below. After participation in the session, you will be emailed (to your University email address) a £10 Amazon voucher to say thank you for your time!

Alongside the focus group, we would also like to invite you to a short one to one Teams interview ( 15-20 mins)  where we would ask you more about your Online Reading List user experience. A further £10 Amazon voucher will be provided for students taking part in the second task. This interview is more flexible and can be arranged at a time that suits you.  

Email c.m.parkin@leedsbeckett.ac.uk with all the dates you can do. Focus groups will run on selected dates that have the most interest. If you are invited to one of the focus groups you will receive an invitation no later than the week before-please check your student email account so you don't miss this. We cannot guarantee that everyone who expresses an interest in the focus group or interview will be chosen, as we have limited places.
