Student meeting rooms

The Library has a number of meeting rooms bookable by Leeds Beckett University students for group work which needs some privacy, for example to practice a presentation.

  • There are 14 student meeting rooms in Sheila Silver Library, City Campus for groups of students to book. These are of various sizes for between 4 and 10 students.
  • There are 8 student meeting rooms in Headingley Library. These are of various sizes for between 4 and 8 students.
  • A group of students must comprise of at least 4 people and as a group you can book up to 2 hours of meeting room space across both campuses each day.
  • All student meeting rooms have access to either a display screen which can be connected to a laptop or a desktop PC for the group to use.

To book a student meeting room follow the links below, choose the date you wish to book, click on the green boxes for the room and time that you wish to book and follow the instructions at the bottom of the screen

There are also PCs and study tables near the City Campus Students' Union offices, available until 19:00 Monday to Friday during term time. The Living Rooms are located in The Hive and are free for students to use until 23:00 unless booked for events.

If you're in Halls there are also communal study areas:

  • Sugarwell Court – The Lounge

Silent study

Silent study is available on the first floor of Headingley Library and on the second and third floors of Sheila Silver Library.

PCs

There are over 900 PCs across the two Libraries.  

You can use the PCs in the IT Labs if there is no teaching timetabled - check PC Availability or the timetable outside each room.

We also have self-service laptops that you can borrow to use in the Library or bring in your own and use the wireless network.

Please respect your study environment

  • Treat others with dignity, courtesy and respect.
  • If you wish to talk, use one of the Group Study Areas.
  • Always carry your Campus Card. Don't lend it to anyone. 
  • Don't leave your belongings unattended or use them to "reserve" study spaces.
  • Only take resources out of the Library that you have borrowed.
  • Return your resources on time.
  • Don't bring hot food into the Library.
  • Don't view, send or download anything offensive.
  • Follow copyright law. Don't plagiarise.
  • Remember to log out when you leave a PC.

Emergency evacuation procedures

If the fire alarm sounds please leave the Library immediately by the nearest fire exit.  Do not use the lifts.

"Safe havens" are designated for people with mobility difficulties. 

Keep hydrated!

Water fountains can be found on the first, second and third floors of Sheila Silver Library and just outside JG250 in Headingley Library. And all Leeds Beckett water fountains can be found via the Refill App.
