Journals and journal articles

Journals (also known as periodicals or serials) are published on a regular basis (e.g. weekly or monthly).

Each journal issue contains a number of articles, written by different authors. Individual issues published over a period of one year are often bound together into a volume. Journals differ in quality and reputation; peer reviewed journals are usually regarded as high quality.
