Sheila Silver Library, City Campus

The Nook on the ground floor is your “living room” area where you can take a break alone or with friends. You’ll find jigsaws, colouring sheets, our free book exchange and more in this area if you need to unwind. Feel free to leave a message on our chalkboard wall or put up your notices on the student noticeboard nearby. Keep an eye out for pop-up events or displays of student and staff work in this area.

The hot water point on the 1st floor is available for you to make yourself a hot drink when you need a break or to keep yourself going at your studies. You’ll need to bring your own supplies and cups, but will have access to a boiling water tap and a sink. You can take a break at the café seating nearby or take your hot drinks anywhere in the Library. You may consume hot food in the area directly adjacent to the hot water point, but please consume only cold food or hot and cold drinks throughout the rest of the Library.

Please be sure to wipe up any spills, or notify Library staff if you are unable to do this yourself.

Headingley Library

While Headingley Library doesn’t yet have a dedicated “living room” space, you may find the following rooms suitable for taking a break or for more relaxed study.

The Loft on the 2nd floor has been recently refurbished and includes a wide variety of seating, including soft seating for individuals and groups.

JG101 on the 1st floor contains a mixture of tables for group discussions and sofas and beanbags for taking a break.

The School Practice Room on the 1st floor features a book collection aimed at primary and secondary school-aged pupils for our students who are on education courses. This sunny room also contains some tables and soft seating for study or relaxing.
