When you really need to concentrate, a silent study room or a desk in the Individual Study Area is just what you need. Silent study rooms are available on the 2nd floor at Sheila Silver Library, City Campus, and the 1st floor of the Headingley Library. No talking is allowed in these rooms and please ensure that what you’re listening to on headphones isn’t audible to others. Please contact us if someone is causing a disturbance in Silent Study.
If you need to work individually but occasionally speak quietly if you’re in an online meeting or teaching session, you may use the Individual Study Area in the Sheila Silver Library at City Campus. This room has a mixture of bookable and non-bookable desks. Some desks have only power sockets for laptops, and others have dual-monitor PC workstations or single-monitor workstations with docking cables for laptops. Seats may be booked in 4-hour blocks in this room.
Please use a headset for online meetings or to listen to music so others can also concentrate on their work. You can borrow a headset from Media Loans on the ground floor.
At Headingley Library you may book a student meeting room for individual study when necessary if the silent study room on the 1st floor doesn’t meet your needs.
