The Library: Contact Us

The University is closed over Christmas and New Year (Saturday 20 December - Sunday 4 January inclusive). The Library remains open for the majority of this closure period. See our opening hours for more details.

In addition:

• 24/7 Library advice is available via Chat and you can also get IT support via phone on 0113 812 1000 with our partner services. Emails will not be answered during the vacation. Leeds Beckett Library staff will be available again on Monday 5 January when the University reopens. Please also see our IT Support pages and our YouTube channel for more help.
• You are able to reset your password and unlock your account without contacting the Library with the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smart phone. If you get a new phone for Christmas you will need to set that up for authentication - see our FAQ: How do I add a new smart phone or phone number to MFA? for more information. Please also be extra vigilant about your cyber security at this time.

• You can access resources off campus via Discover and our Resources web pages as well as your reading lists and modules via MyBeckett. More information on using Discover, including information on known issues, can be found via our Discover FAQs. Or check the supplier status page.
• Help is available on our MyBeckett and submissions pages if you have assignments to submit.
• The last date to place reservations, use our Request It service or request postal loans before the vacation is Monday 15 December. Reservations and requests after this date will be processed from Monday 5 January.

• Appointments with the Library Disability Support Team will be available up to and including Friday 19 December, they will start again on Monday 5 January. You will still be able to book appointments for January. Please see the Library Disability Support page for help and info.
• Keep your studies on track by revisiting our Study modules in MyBeckett. It's also worth reflecting on the feedback you've received so far ahead of the new semester. Academic skills and assignment support appointments will end on 19 December and begin again on Monday 5 January.  

• The Student Wellbeing Team aren't available whilst the University is closed but their Out of Hours Support and Emergency Information page has resources on support services and coping with difficult feelings. The Chaplaincy team also provides out-of-hours crisis support. Call 07780 613862 and a chaplain will answer your call or get back to you as soon as possible. 
• Student Space is a national support service from Student Minds and will be available throughout the Christmas period, offering telephone, web chat and text-based support, including evenings and weekends. Their website also has resources on coping during the Christmas break.   
• If you are staying in Leeds, we recommend that you visit MindWell where you can find information on the support available to you over the Christmas period.  MindWell also has up to date information about Urgent Help as well as resources to help you take care of your wellbeing. 

Please note: Due to essential supplier maintenance, Discover may be unavailable at certain times between 21:00 on 20th December and 09:00 on 21st December. If you experience problems please use the alternative access options listed below.

You should be able to access most of our online systems and information resources during the University closure period, but we can't guarantee this. There are alternate access options available for some resources - see the table below for details.

If we are aware of any problems we will try to post on our Instagram account but it may not be possible to resolve them until staff (including external resource and system supplier staff) return on 5 January.
