Where are the Disability Resource Areas?

The Disability Resource Area is a room within the Library which provides a silent study space for independent study for disabled students. 

These are located in the Library at:

  • Headingley Campus in the James Graham Building, ground floor, room JG G19c - you will need your Campus Card in order to access the room using the swipe access.
  • City Campus in the Sheila Silver Library, third floor, room 315 - you will need your Campus Card in order to access the room using the swipe access.

If you would like an induction to the Disability Resource Areas, please contact the Library Disability Support Team.

If you are working in the Disability Resource Area and your studies are being disrupted by others, we encourage you to report it via:

  • A range of assistive software is available on the PCs. More information is available on the Software page
  • PCs with dual monitors
  • A black and white photocopier / printer.
  • Electric adjustable height desks
  • Larger desks with screens between them to help reduce distractions
  • A range of document stands, laptop stands, bookrests, writing slopes and daylight lamps
  • A CCTV magnifier which magnifies printed information.

 

Study spaces

In addition to the Disability Resource Areas, the Library has a wide variety of study spaces, including Silent Study, Group Study and Student Meeting Rooms. 

If you need a separate room to work in, Student Meeting Rooms can be booked for up to 2 hours, for group work or individually. 

Room JG101 on the first floor of Headingley Library has relaxed seating and a coffee machine.

Laptops are available to borrow from the Library and can be used anywhere on campus.
