You need your Campus Card to enter. You also need this to borrow books, laptops and equipment and to use the printers. Please see our Opening Hours page for opening hours and times when staff are available to help.
You can borrow and return resources using the self-service machines on the ground floor.
This is where you collect any items you have reserved - we will send you an email to let you know when it's ready to collect.
Staff at the Library and Student IT Advice point can help with all your Library and IT queries. You can also get 24/7 Library and Student IT advice by phone or chat.
You can book media equipment such as camcorders, 360 camers and GoPros online and collect them from the Welcome desk.
At the back of the Library are self service laptop lockers. You can borrow the laptops for up to 8 hours.
The stairs and lifts can be found in the far left corner of the Library, through the double doors.
There is an Accessibility toilet to the left of the lift and stairs. Other toilets are located in the entrances to the James Graham building.
You will find the main book collection on the First floor of the Library in the large Book room in the centre of the floor. The books are organised using Dewey Decimal System and each area is colour coded with guidance at the end of the shelves to help make them easier to find.
Collaborative and individual study spaces are available throughout the Library. There are PCs, plug points and USB charging points for laptops. On the second floor you will find The Loft. This recently transformed space offers a variety of furniture, PCs and workstations with laptop docks and dual monitors.
There is a large informal group study room on the first floor (JG101).
There is a silent study room on the first floor for individual study.
These are available on the first floor, on the corridor along the outside of the Book room. You can book student meeting rooms online for two hours.
There are printers on each floor. Prices are displayed near the printers and you pay via online top-up in MyBeckett.
Our bound journals can be found in the rolling stacks through the arches to the left of the ground floor. More than 99% of our journals are available online and these are some of the thousands of resources easily accessible via our Discover search tool.
The Disability Resource Area is on the ground floor at the back of the Library. It provides a silent, independent space for disabled students, with equipment and software.
IT labs throughout the Library can be used by students when not booked for teaching.
As well as providing resources, the Library helps you develop your academic skills. There are academic skills modules on MyBeckett, your virtual learning environment. You can watch online workshops on topics such as academic writing, critical thinking, time management and statistics, or use the resources on the Skills for Learning website (skillsforlearning.leedsbeckett.ac.uk). Our Academic Support team also provide one-to-one appointments, drop-in clinics and study cafés where you can work alongside your peers.
